Robert A. ‘Bob’ Daniels Jr.
Robert A. “Bob” Daniels Jr., age 69, of 504 N. Water St., Sheboygan, died at his home, on Tuesday afternoon, May 11, 2004, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Bob was born in Sheboygan, on Nov. 4, 1934, a son of the late Robert and Angelica (Feld) Daniels. He attended local schools and was a 1954 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1954 to 1956 and loved the Marines.
On April 1, 1977, he married the former lone Truettner in Sheboygan. Bob had been employed at the Sheboygan Transit Company for 25 years, retiring at age 60 as a transit supervisor.
Bob had a big heart and was always trying to make things nice for others, such as organizing fry outs, decorating his lawn and home with seasonal decorations and taking his dear wife lone on special trips.
He enjoyed the Milwaukee Brewers but loved the New York Yankees. He was most proud of his "hole in one" at Christmas Mountain in the Wisconsin Dells. Playing Gin Rummy in a card club, riding his motorcycle, traveling, feeding the birds, giving his family rides in the bus and loving dogs was all part of what made Bob so unique.
He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where he had served as an usher.
Survivors include his dear wife, lone; two sons, Rodney (Andrea) Dimmick and Shane Dimmick, all of Lafayette, Calif.; four daughters, Donna (Don) Cvetan and Debra (Steven) Schieble, all of Sheboygan, Mary Jane Daniels-Lubenow and her husband Craig of Pigeon Lake, and Kim (Philip) Hampton of Johnston, Iowa; 19 grandchildren, Mike, Josh, Chris, Steven, Tara, Ryan, Bambi, Brandee, Melissa, April, Sean, Ian, Kayce, Tyler, Samantha, Baylee, Aspen, Connor and Garland; nine great-grandchildren, Giavanna, Devon, Dallys, Ashlyn, Clarity, Kailea, Daijah, Willow and Curtis; two brothers, Mike (Diane) Daniels and Dick (Charlene) Daniels, all of Sheboygan; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan and Bonnie.
A funeral service will be held for Robert on Saturday, May 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dale Eggert officiating. Entombment, with full military honors will take place in the Chapel of Eternal Light at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., on Friday, May 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church, 623 Ontario Ave., on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Robert's name for the American Cancer Society.
The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center for the care given to Bob.
