Christopher TODD immigrated on 26 June 1637 to Boston, Suffolk County, Mass; arriving on the ship Hector.3 He was a a miller/baker. In attendance at town meeting; ther was much debate about the grinding at the mill. The issue was Christo. Tod propoinede to put his sone Michall into the mill to grind for the Towne at the present upon tryall, and it was desyred that the Townsmen have inspection into his good behaviour and skill in grind of corne into good meale, and to speak further of the buysines at another Towne meeting.

And it was ordered that the Miller should grinde for persons as the com to the mill if they will stay for it to the quantity of 2 or 3 bus. for a person, and the Miller if he caryeth corne for person of Towne he is to have his turne for to grinde 2 or 3 bushells.4 On 26 Jun 1637 Christopher Todd arrived on the ship Hector 5 in Boston, Mass. "Christopher Todd and Edward Wigglesworth and their wives joined the New Haven, Connecticut colony soon after, in 1638. They were not among the first settlers, but were among the first additions. Their names appear several times in the records of the Colony.
Christopher became a farmer, miller and baker. He seems to have been at first one of the less prominent of the colonists. he signed the "General Agreement" modestly with his mark and quietly took his allotment in the "Yorkshire quarter." When the "meeting-house" was "dignified" he had his place assigned him, not in one of the honorable "middle states," but in the "third side seate," though "sister Tod" (for they worshipped in those days "the men apart and their wives apart") was a little more fortunate.
It was not long, however, before Christopher Todd began to make another kind of mark. He bought a grist-mill, which the town had built where Whitney's gun factory now stands; and it was long know as "Todd's mill." The records of the "General Court" show that he was continually adding to his real estate. He even rose to the dignity of a "viewer of fences."
In 1650 he bought an acre and a half on Elm Street in the more aristocratic "London quarter" on a part of which St. Thomas's Church now stands. He occupied a house on the eastern part of it. this ground, known in after-times as "the Blue Meeting house Lot" remained in the family for nearly a hundred years.
Christopher Todd died at a good old age, leaving a will which is a model for sense and wisdom. He had three sons and three daughters of whom the whole earth around and in distant states has ben overspread."1

In attendance at town meeting6; "ther was much debate about the grinding at the mill. The issue was Christo. Tod propoinede to put his sone Michall into the mill to grind for the Towne at the present upon tryall, and it was desyred that the Townsmen have inspection into his good behaviour and skill in grind of corne into good meale, and to speak further of the buysines at another Towne meeting."

The fifth son of Eli Todd. He attended school at the Shelburne Falls Academy, and completed his education at Bernardston Academy. At the age of sixteen he took charge of a school, and taught successfully for two or three years, afterward keeping books a while for a railroad contractor. He bought the homestead shortly after attaining his majority, and applied himself with energy to the task of cultivating the farm. He raises large flocks of sheep and choice stock. Five years ago he leased the Hawkes mills on Cold River, and has since carried on an extensive lumbering business, employing a large force of men and several teams. Mr. Todd is a man of good business ability and has achieved an enviable reputation for the quality of the commodities in which he deals and for his general reliability.4
